10FOLD and Manhattan Fashion Directory are proud to present Patti Astor’s first book. ‘FUN Gallery…The True Story’. It is a memoir recounting her experiences as a ballerina turned young anti-Vietnam revolutionary who went on to open arguably the most famous art gallery in the world.
Patti Astor is an American performer best known for her underground New York City films of the 1970′s, the East Village arts scene of the 1980′s and as a key influencer in the early hip hop movement throughout NYC.
“Queen of the Downtown Scene”, Astor appeared in over a dozen independent films, among which are Amos Poe’s ‘Unmade beds’, Eric Mitchell’s ‘Underground USA’ and Charles Ahearn’s ‘Wild Style’. These films are in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Astor went on to open the first gallery in the East Village presenting then unknowns Keith Haring, Jean Michel Basquiat and Kenny Scharf.
‘FUN Gallery…The True Story’ focuses on the wild and wooly “downtown” days in New York’s legendary East Village. From punk rock at CBGB’s in 1975 with local bands Talking Heads, Blondie, and Television, the early 80’s art explosion, to the independent film scene with Jim Jarmusch and Spike Lee, Patti Astor was always at the center of the storm.
The title refers to her adventures at her tenement storefront art gallery with artists Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Kenny Scharf, Fab 5 Freddy, and Julian Schnabel along with art world icons, Leo Castelli, Mary Boone, Tony Shafrazi and Andy Warhol.

To coincide with the Edge Identity Branding for Blue Star Group. 10FOLD also designed a 16 page full colour booklet complete with die-cut windows and spot UV throughout.
The concept behind the brochure was to show each platform Edge Print Solutions is available on, from desktop computer, iPhone App, iPad App and the features and benefits of each platform while maintaining a clean digital look and feel.
We’ve just completed a 12 page brochure for Blue Star Group’s ‘CroMe’ service. CroMe is a broad Cross-Media solution portfolio to all marketers who are seeking innovative value features with their marketing campaigns via print related technology, mobile technology, inter-connect technology and web driven technology.
The concept behind the brochure was to show sharp futuristic imagery created from various architecture from around the world and shaped into abstract images based around Blue Star’s branding colours.
To coincide with the release of the V-Shell identity, we’ve also created a range of marketing collateral including the design of the V-Shell booklet. V-Shell is new technology that allows full colour variable data printing every time, every page at up to 25% cheaper than traditional production processes.
